Buckingham Palace announced on January 13 that Britain's Prince Andrew has been stripped of his military and royal titles, after being caught up in a sex abuse scandal in the US.

“With the Queen's approval and consent, the Duke of York's military posts and royal titles have been returned to Her Majesty. The Duke of York will not undertake any royal duties and participates in the case as a citizen," Buckingham Palace said in a statement.

According to the source, Prince Andrew will not be allowed to use "honorary honor" in any activities and his duties will be distributed to other members of the royal family.

The decision comes a day after a federal judge in New York rejected Prince Andrew's offer to drop a civil case against him.

The lawsuit, brought by citizen Virginia Giuffre, alleges Prince Andrew sexually assaulted and abused her as a child in 2001. The lawsuit was filed under the Child Victims Act in August 2021, Alleged billionaire Jeffrey Epstein and his partner Ghislaine Maxwell trafficked and abused Virginia Giuffre when she started working at the Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Florida. According to the lawsuit, Prince Andrew - a friend of Epstein, then sexually assaulted Giuffre three times.

The lawsuit states that in the above cases, the plaintiff was forced, threatened or lured by three people to perform sexual acts with Prince Andrew. This causes significant emotional and psychological distress and harm to the plaintiff.

However, Prince Andrew has denied all these allegations. He had previously increased the size of the legal team in the US to defend himself.
