The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced on Monday local time that fully vaccinated international travelers can now travel to the United States with a vaccination certificate.

The order will take effect on November 8, and it applies to non-immigrants, non-US citizens, and children under the age of 18 can be exempted.

The order will require travelers who are fully vaccinated with FDA-approved and WHO emergency vaccines to have a negative test three days before their travel date.

Travelers who have not been fully vaccinated-including U.S. citizens and permanent residents-now need to be tested within one day of their U.S. travel date. This provision exempts children under two years of age and cares for people who have documented recovery from COVID-19 in the past 90 days.

According to a detailed report from the Biden administration, due to the different availability of vaccines for children in various countries, different requirements will be imposed on international travel for children under the age of 18.

Children between the ages of 2 and 17 need to be tested for COVID-19 before departure. Unvaccinated children traveling with fully vaccinated adults can be tested three days before the travel date. However, children traveling alone or with unvaccinated adults are subject to the one-day test.

In addition, passengers will also be required to provide basic contact information for faster contact tracking.

It is reported that the new plan was implemented after the White House announced in early October that it plans to reopen the U.S. border for most foreign travelers vaccinated and end restrictions on the borders and ferry crossings between Mexico and Canada.

The White House said at a press conference that it will release these documents two weeks before the new rules take effect to allow airlines and passengers time to adapt to the new system.
